Puran Poli Recipe
1 cup Cornflour(Maida)
1 pinch Turmeric Powder
1 pinch Salt
2 tsp. Ghee
Water enough to make dough
6 tbsp. Oil
Oil / Ghee for frying
Inner Filling
1 1/2 cup Jaggery
1 1/4 cup Bengal Gram Dal
1/4 tsp. Cardamom Powder
Making Puran Poli :
- Mix the ghee with the corn flour(Maida). With the help of water make soft smooth dough.
- Keep it aside under a wet cloth for 1 hour. Knead the dough again.
- Add 6 tbsps oil and knead the dough till fully soaked. Cover and keep it aside for around 4 hours.
- Add the bengal gram (Dal) in the cooker for one whistle. Then remove excess water.
- Make a paste and jaggery and cardamom powder to it. The stuffing should not be watery.
- Make little balls of the stuffing. Divide the dough into little balls and flatten them.
- Take one ball of filling add it on the dough and cover up the filling.
- Cautiously roll out the dough into thick roti’s being certain the filling does not come out.
- Fry on a pan adding ghee around it. Flip and fry on both sides. The delicious Puran Poli is ready to be eaten.
