Sarson Ka Saag


Sarson Ka Saag is a spicy mustard leaves dish made specially in Northern India. It’s often served with makki roti (Bread made with corn)


Ingredients:

500gms (sarson)Mustard leaves
200gms Spinach
200gms Bathuwa
3 Garlic cloves
1 inch Ginger
2 Green chilli
Salt To Taste
1 tbsp. Maize flour
1 Pinch Sugar
2 tbsp Ghee
1 Asafoetida
1 Pinch Onions,
1 tsp chopped Red chilli powder
1 Pinch Turmeric powder

Making Sarson ka Saag:

  • Wash the Sarson, Spinach and Bathuwa. Cut the leaves finely.
  • Slice ginger, garlic cloves and chillies.
  • Add these in a Pressure cooker and cook the spinach, sarson, bathuwa with garlic, ginger and chillies. When it becomes cool, make it to smooth paste by grinding.
  • Take ghee in a pan, add hing (Asafoetida) and onions. Fry till it gets golden brown. Put salt and turmeric powder and mix it well.
  • Add the grinded saag mixture and cook on low flame for few minutes.
  • Put corn flour, red chilli powder, and sugar and mix it well.
  • Serve this delicious dish hot with chapati or paratha.
