Lapsi Recipe
Lapsi is a tasty and healthy dessert quite popular in India.
Lapsi is broken wheat dry roasted and then cooked with sugar and ghee.
Ingredients:
1 cup Broken wheat
2 1/2 cups Hot water
2 Almonds
3/4 cup Sugar
15 nos. Raisins
1 tbsp Cardamom powder
3/4 cup Ghee
Making Sweet Lapsi :
- Soak the raisins in 1/2 cup water and keep it on the side.
- Heat ghee in a large pan, add the broken wheat (lapsi). Sautee on a high flame till it becomes brown. Add hot water, partially cover and cook on a medium flame till most of the water has vaporized. Add more water if the wheat has not become soft enough.
- Once all the water has vaporized add the sugar, ghee and 1/2 cup water, Mix all. Cook on a reduced flame for 8-10 minutes. The lapsi is ready when the ghee starts separating out from the edges on the pan.
- Serve the lapsi hot decorated with sliced almonds and pistachios.
