Makhana Kheer Recipe – Fox Nut Pudding

100gms soft White Makhanas (Foxnuts)
1 tsp. ghee
5 cups milk
4 tbsp. sugar or as desired
1 tbsp. sliced almonds
1 tblsp. Raisins
1 tbsp. grated pistachios
1 tsp. green cardamom seeds (crushed)

Making Makhana Kheer :

  • In a large pan heat the ghee and roast the makhanas (fox nut) for 4 -5 minutes till they get crispy.
  • Crush them coarsely and keep on the side.
  • In the same pan heat the milk and let it boil on low flame till it reduces to half the quantity of the original volume and of a creamy consistency.
  • During this period stir often so that milk does not stick below in the pan.
  • Now put the crushed makhanas and raisins and grounded cardamoms.
  • Let the makhanas cook till they are soft.
  • Switch off the gas fire and add sugar and dry fruits.
  • Garnish with sliced almonds and pista and serve makhana keer hot or cold, as you like.
