Sindhi Channa (chickpeas) Recipe

Ingredients:
2 Cup chickpeas or Channa (Soaked overnite)
3-4 Onions
3 Tomatoes
2 tsp. Ginger Garlic
8-10 Peppercorns
2-3 Bay Leaves
5-6 Cloves
2 Black Cardamom
1 tsp. Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp. Turmeric Powder
1/2 tsp. Garam Masala Powder
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper Powder
1 tsp. Amchur Powder
1 tsp. Cumin Seeds
Salt to taste
Oil
Making Sindhi Chana (chickpeas):
- In a pressure cooker and add soaked chickpeas with 5 cups water, sliced onion ,bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, peppercorn and salt to taste. Cook on a low heat till chickpeas become soft.
- When chickpeas are cooked drain the water and remove the whole spices. Keep it on the side.
- Then puree the remaining onions.
- Warm oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When it begins to splutter and add ginger garlic and the onion puree. Fry till it becomes light brown.
- Now add tomatoes, turmeric powder, dried mango powder, coriander, pepper, garam masala powder and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Now pour the drained chickpeas water. Mix it well and let it cook for 10 minutes.
- Serve this delicious chickpeas dish hot with bread chapatti or pooris.
